Accident Summary:

The right cargo door came off on take off. The door hit the main rotor blades causing mast bumping to occur. The tail boom and main rotor blades separated from the aircraft. It crashed and burned.

Additional information about this casualty:
Mr. Gilder was assigned to the 4th T.C. Flight Section at Hotel 3. This unit was part of what later evolved into the 201st AVN Co. in 1968. The aircraft lost its stabilizer bar and went inverted into a barracks at Cu Chi. According to my CO "many" people were killed in the barracks. He was new to my unit, from Alabama. A really nice guy!
